Frequently asked questions
What is Yolo Barre all about?
Community! Yolo Barre is about keeping you safe while giving you a full-body, no-impact, balanced workout in just 45 minutes. You’ll improve your strength, flexibility, and posture with this optimal barre routine — and because it’s no-impact, it’s safe at any age. Our in-person sessions are small, so you stay safe while getting the attention you need for your best workout. We specialize in rehab, postpartum, seniors, and taking big-movement athletes to the next level.
What is barre?
Yolo Barre is a hybrid, no-impact workout program that infuses ballet barre, yoga, and Pilates. It’s a beat-based workout, meaning your movements flow to the music to make your workout feel more fun. Each session is seamlessly choreographed for a fun, safe, head-to-toe workout in just 45 minutes.
How do I sign up?
You can sign up with us in person, over the phone, or online. Reach out and we’ll help you find the membership that fits your fitness needs.
Is Yolo Barre safe while pregnant?
For most people, yes! Yolo Barre is a fabulous prenatal practice. It helps you stay strong in your ever-changing body and get you ready to deliver that baby like a boss. As you grow, our highly trained instructors will help you modify as needed to keep you safe while you get stronger. (Fun fact: Brianna took class the day before both of her deliveries!) As always, consult your doctor before starting a new exercise routine during pregnancy.
What about barre postnatal?
Whether you’re 6 weeks, months, or years postpartum, Yolo Barre can help you wherever you are in your postnatal journey. We’ll help you rebuild your core and strengthen your pelvic floor, and we’ll strengthen and stretch your body from every angle to rebalance after all that heavy, awkward lifting early parenthood requires. Best of all, we’ll hold a safe space for your brain, body, and soul to get back to yourself.
What if I have an injury?
Please let an instructor know before class if you’re recovering from or working through a recent or long-term injury, or if you’re pregnant. They’ll do their best to help you modify any exercises. Yolo Barre infuses many of the same movements you’d do in physical therapy, so it’s great for recovery. That said, always consult your doctor before starting a new exercise when working through an injury — your health and safety is our top priority.
How early should I arrive, and what should I bring?
We have most of the equipment you need at the studio. We sanitize our weights, balls, and bands between every group, but you’re always welcome to bring your own.
How often should I practice Yolo Barre?
Our members see optimal results in their bodies and lives by practicing Yolo Barre 3–5 times a week.
Can my kid come with me?
Yolo Barre is family-run and family-friendly. The minimum age to take class is 13, and they must be signed up. Your child is welcome to hang during your workout, but remember they’re still your responsibility — bring an activity, book, or device with headphones for the back cubby area. A quick pep talk to set expectations before class really helps. We want these 45 minutes to be YOUR time, so out of respect for your classmates, please discreetly handle the situation if your child becomes disruptive. Thank you — it takes a village!
Can I put my membership on hold?
Yes! You can put your monthly membership on hold by filling out our hold form — it’s super simple: fill it out, hit submit, and if you qualify, your hold will be put in place. Please note holds may not be backdated; past dates will not be honored.
How do I cancel my membership?
We strive to be fair and transparent. To cancel your monthly membership, simply fill out our digital cancellation form to submit your 28-day notice. To cancel a class-pack membership, email us at yolo@yolobarre.com with “stop renewal.” If you’re planning to come less often, downgrading from Unlimited to a class-pack membership is also an option to save money.
Can I change my membership type?
Absolutely! Life gets busy — and sometimes less busy. You can adjust your membership at any time to better fit your current routine, whether that means more classes to keep momentum going or fewer while things settle down. Just fill out the request form and we’ll put it into action for you.
