Our story

A studio built on community.

Yolo Barre is a small, family-run studio in Davis — and your ultimate bestie in fitness. We built this place for people who want to feel strong, move with confidence, and have actual fun doing it. No intimidating equipment, no judgment, just killer playlists and a room full of people cheering you on.

Our classes are low-impact and accessible to all body types and fitness levels. We specialize in rehab, prenatal and postpartum journeys, seniors, and taking big-movement athletes to the next level — with personalized, hands-on corrections every class.

Meet the team

The founders

Brianna & David

Founders

Yolo Barre was designed especially for the people of Davis. In 2017, Brianna moved her family back to her hometown to bring Davis its first barre studio.

Everything was built with you in mind — from the location with ample parking and bike-path access, to the 45-minute workout formula, to class times that align with school drop-offs, before-work windows, soccer games, and evening events.

Years of research and experience went into developing these workouts. Before Yolo Barre, Brianna spent a decade teaching for a globally known barre franchise in the Bay Area. David coached Women’s Junior Olympic Gymnastics for 20+ years before bringing his athletic expertise to Yolo Barre.

With those backgrounds, Brianna and David created the optimal barre program to improve your posture, sculpt your figure, and strengthen your body — to get you feeling great again and back to the activities you love most.

Just as our members’ lives bloom at the barre, so have Brianna and David’s. These days you’ll find David as the UC Davis Assistant Coach for the Women’s Gymnastics team, where — fittingly — his area of expertise is bars. You’ll see Brianna daily on our virtual program, in the studio, or working with our stellar team.

“Happier.” That’s what our members report after starting Yolo Barre. Sound like something you’d like?

Danielle

Instructor

As a founding member of Yolo Barre, Danielle’s journey has come full circle. She originally came for the dance-inspired workouts but quickly found so much more — support, community, accountability, friendships, and motivation. Yolo Barre became her health tribe.

When the opportunity for instructor training arose two years into her practice, she leapt at it to inspire others. Every instructor at YB has a superpower, and Danielle’s is being a ray of earthly sunshine. When not at the barre, you’ll find her with her two sons or brewing up potions for her skincare line, Pearly Everlasting Organic Botanicals — which you can also find at the studio.

Jasmine

From Front Desk to Instructor

Jasmine tried Yolo Barre on a whim after winning an intro pass at a preschool event. A new mom, new to barre, and newish to Davis, she dove in head first.

“After having my two babies, my confidence was low, so I was excited to try something new. After my first class I was in love. The workout was challenging in a fun way, and the energy of the studio was so welcoming.”

So welcoming, in fact, that Jasmine applied to join our team to spread the positive Yolo Barre vibes. From front desk to instructor. She’s now Welcoming you to jump start your week, every Monday at 6 & 7 AM, YoloBarre style!

Leanne

Instructor & Social Director

In 2018, Leanne left everything behind and immigrated to the USA from Ireland for love. Before moving stateside, she’d been on an epic weight-loss journey that she documented on Instagram, gaining thousands of followers who shared the same struggle all over the world. She publicly shed over 100 lbs and became a personal trainer in Ireland — so when she says she understands your weight, body image, and food struggles, it’s 110% true.

Just like her love story, it was fate that led her to Yolo Barre. Leanne pulls double duty as an Instructor and our Social Director — which our members lovingly dubbed the “Yolo Paparazzi.”

Shoshana (Sho)

Instructor

As a professional Color Guard instructor and performer, Sho knows first-hand how important it is to stay in tip-top shape to prevent injury — which is exactly why our Yolo Barre technique sparked her interest. Just weeks into her practice, Sho noticed new strength in her legs, gained mobility in her shoulders, and a boost in her mood.

Sho brings a flair to her sessions that only a Color Guard can. When not at Yolo Barre, she continues to teach Color Guard and dance at two Sacramento high schools — she’s passionate about helping people of all ages feel strong in their bodies.

Kristen

Instructor

With over three decades of teaching group fitness, Kristen comes to Yolo Barre with a wealth of exercise knowledge. Her passion for fitness and wellness goes far beyond the barre. When not at the studio, you’ll find her on the blacktop at North Davis Elementary running her award-winning Kids in Motion fitness program — health and wellness for all!
